Ingredients

Bommidala fish 2 pieces
Coriander leaves ⅓ of a stick
Coriander powder ⅓ teaspoon
Cumin seeds / jeera ⅓ teaspoon
Curry leaves / kari patta 3 pieces
Fenugreek leaves / kasuri methi ⅓ teaspoon
Green chillies 1½ pieces
Mustard seeds ⅓ teaspoon
Oil 3 tablespoon
Onions ¾ medium
Red Chilli (Powdered) ⅓ teaspoon
Salt ¼-¾ teaspoon as per taste
Tamarind / imli ⅓ cup juice
Tomatoes 1 big
Tumeric powder / haldi ⅓ teaspoon

Recipe

Preparation

  1. 1. Chop the onions, tomatoes and green chillies. Keep them aside.

  2. 2. Wash the fish. Dry it using the kitchen towels and keep it aside.

Cooking

  1. 1. Heat half of the oil in a pan and add dry fish to it. Fry the fish on all sides. Keep it aside.

  2. 2. Heat half of the remaining oil in the same pan and add fenugreek leaves, mustard seeds and cumin seeds to it.

  3. 3. When the seeds start to crackle, add the onions to it. Cook the contents till you get golden brown colour on all sides of the onions.

  4. 4. Add curry leaves, green chillies and chopped tomatoes to the mixture. Cook the contents for 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5. Now, add the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt to the mixture. Mix the contents well.

  6. 6. Add tamarind juice to the mixture and cook the contents for 2-3 minutes. Keep stirring the mixture.

  7. 7. Now, add the fish to this mixture and cook the contents on low flame for 4-5 minutes.

  8. 8. Once the fish is cooked, turn off the flame. (Remember not to overcook the fish as the fish cooks faster)

  9. 9. Garnish with coriander leaves.

  10. 10. Your dish is prepared ready to be served.
