Ingredients

Cocoa Powder 1 tablespoon
Ghee 1½ tablespoon
Khoa ¾ cup
Milk ¼ cup
Pistachios 3-4 pieces
Sugar 1½ tablespoon

Preparation

  1. 1. Crumble the khoa and keep it aside.

  2. 2. Chop the pistachios and keep them aside.

Cooking

  1. 1. Heat the milk in a saucepan and add two-third of the sugar to it. Cook the contents till the contents of milk have reduced to half. Keep this mixture aside.

  2. 2. Heat half of the ghee in a non-stick pan and add khoa and milk mixture to it. Cook the contents till the khoa melts and is free of lumps.

  3. 3. Now, add cocoa powder to the mixture and mix the contents well. Cook the contents till three-fourth of the moisture leaves the mixture.

  4. 4. Add sugar and half of the remaining ghee to the mixture and mix the contents till the mixture becomes a mass. (Remember not to overcook else the mixture will turn hard)

  5. 5. Now, turn off the flame and keep the dough like smooth mixture aside. (You can knead the mixture using your hands if you do not get a smooth dough like mixture)

  6. 6. Cool the mixture and divide it into small pieces. Keep them aside.

  7. 7. Grease your hands with ghee and make small balls from the pieces. Flatten each piece.

  8. 8. Place the chopped pistachios at the center of each peda and press them gently. Allow the pedas to cool down.

  9. 9. Your dish is prepared and ready to be served.
