Ingredients

Asafoetida / Hing A pinch
Coriander leaves ½ stick
Coriander powder ½ tablespoon
Cumin seeds / jeera ½ teaspoon
Garam masala powder ⅓ teaspoon
Ginger ½ small
Green chillies 1 piece
Oil 2 teaspoon
Potatoes 1½ big
Red Chilli (Powdered) ¾ teaspoon
Salt ¼ teaspoon as per taste
Tomatoes 2 medium
Tumeric powder / haldi ½ teaspoon

Preparation

  1. 1. Boil the potatoes in water. (Till the potatoes have half submerged)

  2. 2. Peel off the potatoes, chop them and keep them aside.

  3. 3. Chop the tomatoes, coriander leaves and green chillies. Keep them aside.

  4. 4. Grate the ginger and keep it aside.

  5. 5. In a mixer grinder, add the tomatoes and some water. Grind the contents till you get a smooth paste.

Cooking

  1. 1. Heat the oil in a pan or kadai and add cumin seeds, ginger, green chillies and asafoetida to it. Cook the contents for about 2 minutes.

  2. 2. Now, add the tomato puree, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder to the mixture. Mix the contents well.

  3. 3. Cook the contents on medium flame till you get a thick mixture. (This will take about 7 minutes) Keep stirring the mixture.

  4. 4. Add the potatoes to this mixture and mix the contents properly.

  5. 5. Now, add water (as needed) to the mixture. Mix the contents well.

  6. 6. Add salt to the mixture. Cover the pan or kadai with a lid and cook the contents for 2-3 minutes.

  7. 7. Now, add garam masala powder and coriander leaves to the mixture. Mix the contents well.

  8. 8. Your dish is prepared and ready to be served. Serve it with pooris.
